still spicy...
SO piper and i got an unwelcome early start this morning (she hates to sleep), so i decided that while she was eating breakfast and playing with her zillions of toys and whatnot, that i needed to do SOMETHING so as not to fall asleep...so i made spicy chocolate cookies to see if they would be any better than the brownies...and they were better, but still not great. there really was nothing wrong with them...great flavor, great spice, moist cookie....i just feel defeated by the brownie, and think i will not be satisfied until i win. so i did a little research on how to make fudgy brownies, and learned that you need to add more chocolate AND an extra egg yolk! i had no idea. SO. that is what i'll do next..........to be continued...again.

friends and hats and paypal.
so today i went to visit a very good friend of mine (with another very good friend of mine...) who is very sick in mass general hospital. it was fantastic to see her. she is the strongest person i know, and she will pull through this. she has amazed doctors already. she is my hero.
also, i got to spend the day w/ someone who has been my friend for years, and never lets me forget how thankful i am to have her. she lets me talk and talk and talk about the same thing for hours...just because i need to talk about it....and maybe she does to. i am very blessed.
tonight, instead of baking, i crocheted a hat for an order (my first...and a surprise one at that!) and hung out with my beautiful little girl who was supposed to be sleeping, but instead lied on my lap for about an hour smiling at me.....just cause she loves me. oh boy. she is my heart living outside of my body.
and then! i just set up a paypal account so that people can pay for piperbellies that they order no matter where they are in the world...no more mailing checks...geesh...it IS 2010, you know.

spicy brownies...
good news...the brownies had a FANTASTIC flavor. nice and chocolaty, not to sweet, with a subtle spice that hits the back of your throat as you finish your bite.
bad news...i didn't love the texture of the brownie. it was kind of grainy or...something.
SO. my solution (i think) is to put the same spices in one of my chocolaty chocolate cookies, which i think i've perfected...and make a spicy chocolate COOKIE instead. hm. maybe tomorrow....

waiting in my apron...
Piper just went down for a nap, so, as i often do...i baked!
i just made some "spicy chocolate brownies"..."brownies with a kick"..."hot hot brownies". well, you get the idea. someone asked me if i could make something chocolaty and spicy for their business, so if these come out well, that is where they are going! they smell good, and the batter tasted delicious (i had to test...), BUT they are a stove top brownie, and i have never had a stove top brownie which i thoroughly enjoyed...i'm hoping these ones will change my mind. i'll let ya know when they come out of the oven! stay tuned!

basically a "to do" list...
so, i'm thinking that i have too much going on. i'm working 4 mini jobs, which are hardly paying the bills, taking a class, and trying to start a business. OH and be a mom. its quite a bit to deal with, and i'm finding myself spread too thin already. i'm not able to focus on what i want to focus on...which is really only piper and baking. SO. what to do? win the lottery? rob a bank? marry a millionaire? hmmmmmmm....the last one doesn't sound so bad.
in an ideal world......i would focus on how to actually have a business...(well, ideally i would like to just know this part, without having to learn it.). but i would also be married to that millionaire, weigh 105 lbs and have a baby that sleeps through the night. lets at least TRY to be realistic.
k, back to reality. i will learn business things as i go. hopefully some nice people along the way will teach me, or i'll use the miracle of the world wide web to figure that out (what did they DO without the internet!?!?!). right NOW i'm thinking i'll start a facebook page for PiperBellies just to get the word out a little more...and also, i need to start working on a valentines day menu. i'm thinking red velvet cupcakes, chocolate ginger cake for two, and lavender heart sugar cookies. just a few thoughts....now, to make those thought a reality...

oooooh boy.
i often think to myself..."why don't i just start a blog? it will keep me accountable for what i am doing, and it will inform people of how PiperBellies is growing AND its free." so. here i am. attempting to start something which i in fact keep up with...in a somewhat organized fashion...at least in a way that is comprehensible to others. my goal is to blog SOMETHING every day...(don't expect it to be long...10 month olds can be time consuming...and distracting :), because in blogging something, i will have to actually DO something to tell you about to grow my business.
So...this is my blog. here we goooo!!!
